Become a Qualified Driving Instructor with Freedom Drive

Before starting your driving instructor journey, you must meet the DVSA eligibility requirements to apply to become a DVSA Approved Driving Instructor (ADI).

Age and Driving Experience
You must be at least 21 years old and have held a full UK or EU driving licence for a minimum of three years.

Driving Record
You must have no more than 6 penalty points on your driving licence and must not have been disqualified from driving within the last four years.

Fit and Proper Person Check
You must be considered a “fit and proper person” to become a driving instructor. This includes passing an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, even if you already hold a DBS certificate for another job.
