Provisional Drivers Licence
Before you apply for your first provisional driving licence, you must be at least 15 years and 9 months old and be able to read a number plate from 20 metres away. It costs £34 to apply online.
Theory Test
The theory test is made up of two parts. A multiple-choice section, where you need to gain a pass mark of 43 points out of a possible 50, and a hazard perception section, where you will need to score 44 points out of a possible 75.

How do I get my provisional driving licence?
You must hold a provisional driving licence before you can start driving lessons. You can get your first provisional driving licence by applying to the DVLA online or by post. Apply for your Provisional Licence here.
Do I need to pass the Theory Test before I can start lessons?
No. In fact it is a good idea to learn the theory whilst you are learning to drive. It makes the subject relevant and easier to understand and remember. You can book your Theory Test here.
When can I start taking driving lessons?
You can start learning to drive a car on public roads from the age of 17 if you hold a provisional driving licence. You can apply for your provisional licence when you are 15 years and 9 months old.
How many lessons will I need to learn to drive?
It depends on your natural skills and how much you can invest in your driving lessons. On average it takes around 45 hours, with 20 hours of private practice. Pupils who have been cycling or riding a moped usually learn to drive more easily.
How often should I take lessons?
How often you have your lessons is entirely up to you. The more you are able to take, the quicker you will learn.
I am nervous about learning to drive, how can you help me?

Do you provide Pass Plus courses?
Yes, we do. Pass Plus is a six-hour training course designed to improve your skills in specific areas, such as driving in town, in all weathers, on rural roads, at night, on dual carriageways and on motorways.
Can you give refresher lessons for qualified drivers?
Yes, depending on your requirements and there are several choices to help you brush up your skills.
